As mentioned earlier, Sultan Kosen tops the list of the tallest people in the world, with 8 feet 2.8 inches as his height. As a Kurdish farmer, Sultan was awarded the title of tallest man by Guinness World Records.

One of the major causes behind his extraordinary tallness is a medical condition called acromegaly which stimulates the production of growth hormone in the pituitary gland.

2. Don Koehler

Born in Denton, Montana, Don Koehler was 8 feet 2 inches tall. Until the age of 10, Don Koehler was an average-sized person. However, after that, he rapidly started growing at an alarming rate. He was also considered to be the tallest man until he died in 1981.

Although his height might sound unique and even interesting to a lot of people, Koehler himself had to struggle with various inconveniences. He had to put two double beds together in a hotel room and he couldn’t even enter a room that had a low ceiling. He had a 29-inch difference from his twin sister.

Due to kyphosis, his stature and posture were changed. There was a curvature in his spine and at the age of 55, he died in Chicago. At the time of his death, his height was reported as 7 feet 10 inches.

3. Brahmin Takioullah

Following Sultan Kosen, the next on the list is the Moroccan Brahin Takioullah with a height of 8 feet 1 inch. He secures the place of the second among the tallest people in the world. He also holds a Guinness World Record for biggest feet.

Similar to Sultan, Brahim suffers from the medical condition, acromegaly which has also made finding shoes a difficult task for him. His doctor had to make a pair especially for him.  

4. Morteza Mehrzad

Next in line is Morteza Mehrzad who is a Paralympian playing for Iran’s men’s national sitting volleyball team. Securing the place of the tallest man in Iran, he also secures the position of the tallest Paralympian.

5. Dharmendra Pratap Singh

A resident of UP, Dharmendra Pratap Singh is 8 feet 1 inch tall and has a Master’s degree in Hindi literature. All his life, Dharmendra has struggled to find love or a job due to his height. He had to then settle for a job in an amusement park where he had to allow people to take pictures with him.  

6. Zhang Juncai

Having a height of 7 feet and 11 ¼ inches Zhang Juncai is from the Shanxi province of China and till 2004, he was considered to be among the tallest person in China.

7. Asadullah Khan

With 7 feet 11 inches, Asadullah Khan is considered to be the tallest man in India after Dharmendra Pratap Singh. To everyone’s surprise, his father, brother, and mother are only 5 feet tall.

8. Naseer Soomro

Naseer Ahmed Soomro is from Shikarpur in Pakistan and is considered to be the second tallest man in Pakistan with a height of 7 feet 10 inches. Once it so happened that Naseer was instructed by the police in Shikarpur not to step out of his house as his posture and height attract huge crowds causing nuisance and various other problems.

When it comes to Bao Xishun, his height of 7 feet 9 inches is a sure case of adolescence hitting someone like a truck. Till the age of 16, Xishun was an average-sized person, but after that, he grew huge. Being a herdsman in Mongolia, he got married at the age of 56 in the year of 56.

10. Sun Mingming

Considered to be the tallest basketball player in the world from China, Sun Mingming is 7 feet and 9 inches tall. He has given cameos in various films such as ‘Rush Hour 3’ and ‘Funny Soccer’ He is also married to a 6 feet 1-inch tall handball player called Xu Yan, whom he met at the National Games of China. 11. Radhouane Charbib

Radhouane Charbib was considered to be the tallest man in China with a height of 7 feet and 9 inches until the year 2005. However, after that, Bao Xishun surpassed him as he was 2mm taller than Charbib.
